Pelvic Health Physical Therapy

Private, one-on-one care for bladder, bowel, pelvic pain, and pregnancy concerns

Our Approach

Care That Starts With Listening

Pelvic health issues are common, but they don’t need to be ‘normal.’ Although many people experience pelvic health dysfunction, these problems can be difficult to talk about. Your first visit starts with an in-depth conversation in a private room about you, your symptoms, and what pelvic health therapy may involve. You will have control over what aspects of therapy you would like to participate in, and together we will create a plan that best addresses your symptoms and comfort level.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Private Conversation:

We talk through your symptoms and goals.

Individualized Assessment:

We may check posture, breathing, flexibility, and core and hip strength.

Your Choice:

Every part of the exam is explained first and is always optional.

Your Plan:

You leave with a plan and exercises to start at home.

What We Help With

Find your area below to see the conditions we treat most often.

Leaking when you cough, sneeze, laugh, or exercise is common, but it isn’t something you have to accept. The same goes for feeling like you always need to rush to the bathroom. We work on strengthening and coordinating the pelvic floor muscles, along with habits and breathing, so you can get back to the things you’ve been avoiding.

Pain in the pelvis, hips, low back, or tailbone can come from tight or overworked muscles, past injuries, or changes after childbirth or surgery. We find what’s driving the pain and use gentle hands-on care, stretching, and exercise to help calm it down and keep it from coming back.

Your body goes through a lot before and after having a baby. We support you during pregnancy and throughout postpartum recovery, including symptoms that persist or appear years after pregnancy. That can mean easing back and pelvic pain while you’re expecting, safely rebuilding core and pelvic floor strength after delivery, and addressing abdominal separation (diastasis recti). Whether your baby is six weeks old or sixteen years old, it’s not too late to start.

Pain during intimacy is more common than most people realize, and it often has a physical cause that therapy can help with. We start with a private conversation, explain every step, and move at a pace that feels right for you.

The pelvic floor muscles play a big role in bowel movements. If they’re too tight or not working together, it can lead to straining, constipation, or trouble with control. We teach techniques, positions, and exercises that can make things easier and more comfortable.

Leaking after prostate surgery is common, and pelvic floor therapy can help you regain control sooner. We can start before surgery to prepare your muscles, then guide your recovery afterward with a clear, step-by-step plan.

Other Ways We Can Help

Pelvic health is one part of the care we offer. We also provide general physical therapy and specialized lymphedema treatment.

General Physical Therapy

Hands-on care for back, neck, shoulder, knee, and other injuries, plus recovery after surgery. One-on-one treatment focused on getting you moving again.

Lymphedema

Certified therapists managing post-surgical and chronic lymphedema, including manual lymphatic drainage and compression therapy.

What Happens After Pelvic Health Therapy?

Feeling better is a great start, but building strength keeps you there. When therapy ends, our strength and performance programs help you stay active and confident.

Before You Come In

Michigan allows you to begin physical therapy without a physician referral for up to 10 visits or 21 days, whichever comes first. However, insurance plans generally require a referral in order to pay for physical therapy. If you plan to use insurance, we recommend obtaining a referral before starting. Contact us if you’re unsure and we can help determine what your plan requires.

Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, like leggings, joggers, or athletic shorts. We’ll give you privacy and a gown or drape if any part of your visit calls for one.

Yes. Every visit takes place in a private treatment room, one-on-one with your therapist. We explain each step before we do it, and every part of the exam is your choice. You can stop or skip anything at any time.
